What is a good over the counter treatment for alopecia in kids?

My 10 year old nephew was diagnosed with alopecia over 7 months ago. He wears a hat to school and is still picked on by other children. He even sleeps with the hat and holds onto it all night so his bald spots do not show. Its sad to see him go through this. The dr.’s have prescribed medications but nothing seems to help the spots just continue to grow. So if anyone knows of a home remedy or something over the counter please share so I can help my nephew overcome this.

I’m simply assuming (correct me if I’m wrong) that the child is suffering from Alopecia areata, in which case there are no appropriate over the counter treatments that are safe and/or effective.

The only OTC treatment that there is for that is… a wig. Yea, that’s all I’ve got for you.

Hello, im a little bit older then your nephew. I’ve had alopecia totalis (everywhere) for over a year. I tried EVERYTHING but it just got worse. All i can say is to make things as stress-less as possibly, this can really help it grow back. Keep him calm. Also about the kids picking on him, id suggest going to a phycologist (sorry for spelling) or find a way to boost his self confidence.

P.S: Im 12 and after a year of having alopecia it finally started to grow back.

      I wish your nephew luck.
